Wardens of Law

The Wardens of Law are the nobility's means to control the unruly masses of Cove. Often fanatic and zealous, the Wardens work tirelessly to uproot unlawfulness from the town, punishing criminals justly and without any remorse. They are the ones who maintain the Codex of Cove, a long and detailed document listing the many laws of the town, and strive to make it perfect. The Wardens of Law consider mercy to be folly, a shield for the weak and unlawful. They openly dismiss the Virtues, claiming the Codex shows people the true way to live.

Out of character concept:

  • New characters only.
  • They are peasants.
  • All Wardens are from Cove.
  • All Wardens used to be peasants
  • The Wardens leave Cove only on special assignments.
  • Extreme studying and teachings of the Wardens strict philosophies quickly changes the harsh and stout behaviour of a peasant into fanatical and zealous.
  • The Wardens are obbsesed with Law and Justice.
  • The Wardens are obbsesed with spreading the Codex.
  • The Wardens hate chaos and their followers.
  • The Wardens dismiss mercy and compassion, calling them a shield for the weak and evil.

Clerk

    - Starting point for those who wish to pursue a career in Law, this position requires one to be able to write and read since the main duty of a Clerk is to keep all the records and papers intact. The holders of this position usually spend their spare time studying the Codex and other laws.

    Requirements: knowledge of ERPA and Cove's rules.

Jurist

    - When a clerk learns Codex and trading laws of Cove he may be promoted to Jurist. Jurists still deal mainly with papers however they now have the authority to prepare trading licences and solve petty disputes between merchants and artisans.

Lawyer

    - After showing knowledge, understanding of Cove's justice system and proving tremendous loyalty to the nobles and the Codex, a jurist may be given the position of a lawyer. Lawyers strive to better the existing laws and often help the Judge or Sheriff review criminal cases. They may not yet command the Militia but are already treated with fear and respect for the peasantry considers them probable Prosecutors.

    Requirements: Some experience in roleplaying, good understanding of Cove and ERPA rules.

Prosecutor

    - Zeal and hatred for chaos burn within these men and women. The Prosecutors make it their life's goal to uphold and spread Law and Codex throught Cove and eradicate any criminal activities. These men may command Watchmen of the Militia, give and set fines according to their cherished Codex of Cove.

    Requirements: Lenghty service in the Keepers of Law and good roleplaying skill.

Judge

    - An expert in matters concerning justice, the Judge is well versed in laws through all Britannia. The duty of making a decision whether the acussed is guilty or not requires great perception and only the very wise, intelligent and fanatical reach this position. For years the these men have pursued and hunted those who would oppose law and the Codex. Many feel uncomfortable when a Judge is near, for many deaths and punishments lie on his consciousness. He has great power and may command Watchmen and Guardsmen and his orders surpass those of Militia Officials. It is in the Judge's power to give a death sentence.

    Requirements: Active organising of events.

Advocate

    - Men and women move from his way with bowed heads while children turn-away terrified. The Advocate's gaze seems to pierce the body to the very bone and people shiver and tremble if he comes their way - it often means the end of their days. He controls all the Keepers of Law and answers only to the nobility, yet even they treat the Advocate with great respect and caution. Legends are told, or rather whispered, of this mans deeds to spread the Codex and eradicate the followers of chaos and crime.

    Requirements: Active organisation of events, devotion to the guild.
