The First Caravan

It was a warm autumn evening when Videric Gaveston walked with his steed Drake to the village of Deepwater. He was a bit underweather as he had learned that his beloved Lady Morgaine was unable to attend because of an urgent matter concerning her clients. As a fellow merchant Videric understood how ones life as a trader could be, so he tried to concentrate on the coming trip. On the bright side he was sure that his good friend Lady Flora would at least be there, the rest was still a bit uncertain. The journey from Deepwater to Spiritwood would be a long one.

As he finally arrived to the central square of Deepwater he was pleasantly surprised as there were quite many people waiting. He apologised for being late and told about an ettin that had tried to eat his good steed earlier on the journey. Some of the faces were new to him, but he recognised Flora, Yoldran and Burrator immediately. As a lovely surprise Lady Skye, who Videric he had met with his trade partner Zeddicus, arrived just in time to join the caravan as well.

All was set to go, when suddenly a green cloaked man walked from the forest, and introduced himself as Seer Aymer. And even more surprised Videric was when he wished to join the caravan. Of course it was great pleasure to have such a high visitor from Lord British's court, and Videric was delighted to invite him. He was even given a horse by a stranger who called himself Pucky.
Seer Aymer makes an appearance.

Videric reminded the crew of the valuable jewels he was carrying, and that he might need protection, to his delight everyone was ready to be of assistance and so the journey began, and the first stop would be Yew Abbey.

The journey to Yew did not last very long as most of the people were on steeds and the weather was good. Only few ogres dared to show their face and try to attack the caravan but the escort took care of them fast. With company of about ten people Videric felt relatively safe and was happy that the journey was so great success already, he was not however expecting what he saw at the Abbey when he arrived.

Mayor Brooks words say it all...
Apparently the word about the caravan and the arrival of seer Aymer had spread quickly and at the abbey there were at least another ten to join the caravan to Spiritwood. From the resting point at the Abbey Videric lead the caravan to the first market place at the honourable guardsmen militias base. He had earlier talked to his friend Imre Crowwood, who was the Yew peasants' spokesman, about the caravan to insure more customers.

Finally the caravan arrived to Guardsmen militia whose guards started to question the travellers about their business and being as vigilant and straight as ever. However they had no trouble with the caravan. Videric unpacked his jewels and started to sell them, and several other merchants did so as well. Business was a bit slow but Videric was able to sell few items. Imre Crowwood was very impressed by the caravan and wanted to join the caravan on its way to Spiritwood, Videric was happy to let him join. Also some of the guardsmen militia offered to join as the journey was long and a chance for an ambush was always there. And so did the caravan grow with another about ten persons reaching to a size of about thirty persons.

After some rest the Caravan was set to start the longest journey of the Caravan tour a trip from Yew to Spiritwood.

From Yew, Imre Crowwood and some of the guardsmen joined the caravan.

The journey was long but everyone was on a merry spirit and excited about the first caravan journey to Spiritwood. Videric was a bit of afraid that near the orc fort there would be trouble, but his worries were luckily in vain. Before arriving to the infamous brigand camp the most dangerous foe the caravan met was a rat...

"At the Tavern the size of this rat will surely grow many times in the stories!", laughed Videric at the site. Sadly there was dark times ahead for the caravan that no one could expect...

It was decided that the caravan would rest a while at the Brigand camp, and after brave scouts had secured the camp the caravan entered the area. Even here some more joined the caravan, such as Alexandra the Bard. After some rest the caravan continued it's journey...

After killing few Brigands the camp was secured

Orc Scout
A first sign of trouble was a lone orc scout who spotted the caravan after Britain's crossroads, Seer Aymer warned he the orc might be part of a bigger war party, suddenly the air was more grim and a cloud of concern was raised in Videric's and many of the travellers minds.
It was decided that the caravan should continue without no further delay to Spiritwood to avoid any warparty to catch on the party. And all seemed well again, until near the mainland huts of Skara Brae an huge horde of orcs ambushed the caravan from the Forest.

"Protect the caravan brave warriors!", yelled Videric and tried to move his steed to cover.

An Ambush!
For a moment after the orcs and the leading ogre lord were slain Videric thought they were safe, and someone even said: "This was a rather small ambush." Right after those words were finished another wave of attackers now lead by Gazers and their minions attacked from the woods... Some were badly wounded in the coming battle but luckily mages and healers were able to save all.

The Evil Ogre Lord
After the Battle the group re-grouped, and ran towards Spiritwood in fear of more attacks. However Imre Crowwood seemed to be missing and Videric asked some of the scouts to look for him. But at this point Mayor Brook of Deepwater reminded that the whole party was in great danger if we were to slow down. But being stubborn minded as he is Videric decided to wait, and after few minutes there was some noise from the woods. First Videric thought it was the scouts but instead a pack of Hellhounds charged at them... and like this was not enough a giant shadow dropped over the caravan, as a drake dived from the sky to attack the caravan. Because of the fast action of the escort the attackers were once again defeated. And Videric had no other choice than continue onwards and pray that his friend was well.

Then finally after many hours of hard travel the caravan saw Spiritwood at the sunset, at last they would be safe.

Spiritwood!

Videric was relieved and tired, he was happy that he was safe but still worried about his missing friend. He smiled warmly as he saw his beloved Morgaine waiting for him at Spiritwood and hugged her tight. Everyone headed to the tavern to drink and rest. Seer Aymer warned that the forces we encountered were most likely lead by an orcish diplomat who served a dark lord who according to the seer had been watching Britannia for sometime, but many were already drinking and not hearing what he said. Videric bid the Seer farewell and soon after he left.

Later in the evening with the help of Elv'eng and Khan, Videric finally delivered the valuable chest he was carrying to the Skara Brae bank. Videric was tired, but with profit and good protection he got he was sure that he would lead another caravan soon...
